The Agricultural Economic Management Station (AEMS) was established in 1984 as an institute under the jurisdiction of the Yunnan Agricultural Department, and responsible to provide guidance to the development of rural cooperative economy. The AEMS system consists of AEMS branches at four different levels: provincial, prefecture, county and township. The Agricultural Economic Management Station (AEMS) was appointed by the Agricultural Department to become responsible to provide guidance, support and services towards the development of farmer's professional cooperative organizations. AEMS has 23 staff on provincial level of which 3 are directly engaged in providing guidance to farmers’ professional cooperative organizations.
