In this work area we build on activities developed in ICT so far. Please check specialism "ICT". Through Agro-info.net we offer websites for rural membership organisations (partnersites) and intend to work on telecentre-like solutions for agricultural information and communication in general (building on experiences of IFDC & Agriterra in the MISTOWA-project). We also help with the development of open-source software for cooperative management (with FAO) and make a special point of market information systems through the Internet with farmers’ organisations as users and suppliers of data.
We estimate to be able to set up 24 telecentres or similar centres, and, by 2010, we expect to have more than 120 organisations in our network who have started using their own agro-info website, as against 23 at the end of 2005.
