ACTIVITIES
The program was started with the selection of participating SACCOS. A comprehensive form was developed and administered among the potential SACCOS to get the complete information on various aspects. Two orientation workshops were organized. The workshops were attended by the key leaders and staff of the participating SACCOS. These workshop were mainly concentrated on; Project goal and objectives, Program characteristics, Target groups, Key principles of program, Role of NEFSCUN and participating SACCOS and members, Implementation modalities. 48 participants attended these workshops.
A 5 days long Entrepreneurship Development Training was organized in project area. The training was attended by 25 participants, mainly women. The participants were micro finance staff of the participating SACCOS. During the training, the following topics were covered; Characteristics of Micro enterprise and Successful entrepreneurship, Selection of Micro Enterprise, Key consideration on Selection, How can micro Finance help for the promotion of Micro enterprise, How to develop Business Plan
During the project period, various skill, business development trainings were organized; Incense making, Bee keeping, Poultry farming, Livestock farming, Tailoring, in total 134 women were trained.
RESULTS
During half a year implementation, 135 Self Help GroupS (SHGS) have been formed among the 14 participating SACCOS. The membership in these groups is in the range of 7-12. The program has offered its services to 1.312 women members who had no access on any formal financial services. The total amount of savings by the end of December has been reached RS.1.500.000 among all SHGS. This saving has been mobilized among the members. | Het voorstel richt zich op versterking van spaar en krediet coöperaties en economische ontwikkeling van vrouwen, leden van de coöperaties (SACCOS Savings and Credit Cooperatives Societies) lid van NEFSCUN in het westen van Nepal. Het voorstel is een replicatie van het in het centrum en oosten succesvol nu nog door ACCU uitgevoerde WECUMI project. Vanaf 2007 zal het hele programma in beheer van NEFSCUN worden uitgevoerd. |
