2. Cooperative Development (production of business plan, feasibility studies, and other necessary documents for the establishment of cocopeat factory)
3. Strengthening of PASAKA chapters
4. Continued Agrarian Reform Campaign to Implement Agrarian Reform.
5. Local Governance and Rural Democratization.
6. Campaigns and Advocacy.
7. Assisting and strengthening partnerships (facilitate and assist international and local missions and study visits; regular contact with BAJK and triangle working groups; regular contacts with other international partners). (...less...) |

The 2007 project is a continuation of the project in 2006 and fits in a total plan of four years. Because of that, the results of the year 2007 should be seen as part of this larger frame work. The project is a mix of organisational strengthening of Pasaka and their assistance to farmers in their quest for livelihood development through the implementation of sustainable agriculture. At the same time, one is working on the implementation of the comprehensive agrarian reform programme.
Enhanced knowledge skills resulted in smooth implementation and monitoring of the project. These skills and attitudes were gradually transferred to the members through seminars and consultations. Separate trainings and seminar activities were organised for women and young farmers. Through Direct Copra Marketing there was an income increase. The purchase of a copra warehouse and two vehicles augmented the copra delivery and the organisation expects that this will increase more in the coming months.
During National and Barangay elections, PASAKA conducted a series of voters' education. The organisation also conducted an electoral management seminar for the aspiring candidates for the Barangay elections. The potable water project at Liangan, Maigo experienced some delay because of these elections. For the rest the executed activities, the outcomes and the expenses were mostly as planned.
In the continuation of this project, the third phase, there will be special attention for in depth coaching on management and styles of entrepreneurship. The aim is to achieve a surplus in income for coconut farmers, with special focus on women and youth, by implementing new technologies in the production of coco and copra. Besides, the aim is to achieve cooperative and enterprise development. Business plans will be prepared, the market researched and partnerships established and deepened, e.g. with Holland Potgrond.

The project is a continuation of the project in 2006: 06pa-4795.
The proposal for 2007 follows the same reasoning as a previous proposal for the period 2006-2007. Some necessary clarifications have been made: the activities around cocopeat are explicitly mentioned (under 2 – cooperative development: production of business plan, feasibility studies, and other necessary documents for the establishment of cocopeat factory).
The business plan is of great importance with regard to the question which investments have to be made. Consultation wit the company Holland Potground is necessary.
PASAKA has also submitted a proposal for the construction of a storehouse and the purchase of transportation means. Pasaka considers this necessary investments for the realisation of the Direct Copra Marketing Project. |
