AOPEB “Asociación de Organizaciones de Productores Ecológicos de Bolivia” is affiliated to the ecological producers in Bolivia. According to the last assembly carried out in 2008 AOPEB affiliates 65 organisations in nine departments of Bolivia, 1800 communities and 65.000 farmers.

The specific objectives of this project are:
1. To generate capacity in production, processing, marketing and participatory certification and other relevant issues for the members of AOPEB through the implementation of training programs that promote sustainability.

2. To promote the effective articulation of its member’s organisation promoting participatory research, systematization of experiences and implementation of different validated organic farming techniques to recover, upgrade and consolidate their knowledge and experiences.
3. To promote the establishment of national, municipal and departmental councils of ecological production through regional offices of AOPEB.
4. To contribute to the strengthening, coordination, complementation and enhancement of gender relations within producers organisations.

Some activities planned within the project are:
- to design a educational curriculum to training farmers on sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty;
- to train farmers as facilitators and promoters to transfer knowledge to other farmers about : ecological production, sustainable agriculture, forestry systems, commercialisation and ICT issues;
- implementation of ecological plots between the farmer promoters,
- Implementation of internal systems of control and quality control in the organisations and communities;
- to establish a network of facilitators and promoters of the methodology farmers to farmers;
- to implement innovation plots;
- to design a monitoring and evaluation system to follow up the work of facilitators and promoters;
- to promote the conformation of a National Council of Ecological Production in Bolivia;
- to sign contracts with municipalities and other actors involved in ecological production;
- to promote women participation within the member organisations;
- the Gender Commission of AOPEB will promote a national gender strategy;
- Workshops and exchanges for women.

The proposal submitted is for three years (2009-2011).
The total budget for the three year project is €150.600 (2009: €51.600; 2010: €49.500; 2011: €49.500).
The own contribution of AOPEB will be €47.300 (around 31% of the total budget 2009: €16.300; 2010: €15.000; 2011: €15.500).
The requested project budget to Agriterra amounts €103.300 (2009: €35.300; 2010: €34.000; 2011: €34.500).
GOALS
Objetivo General:

“Fortalecer el movimiento ecológico boliviano como motor del desarrollo productivo sostenible y la soberanía alimentaria a través de la formación de recursos humanos de tres macroregiones en base a la metodología campesino a campesino”.

Objetivos Específicos

1. Generar capacidades en producción, transformación, comercialización y certificación participativa (SPG) y otros temas relevantes en las organizaciones de productores ecológicos a través de la implementación de programas de formación que promuevan la sostenibilidad en las organizaciones atendidas por las cuatro oficinas de AOPEB y diferentes regiones.
2. Promover la articulación efectiva de organizaciones de productores ecológicos para el fomento de la investigación participativa, sistematización de experiencias ecológicas e implementación de diferentes técnicas agrícolas validadas, que permitan la recuperación, revalorización y consolidación de sus conocimientos y experiencias.
3. Promover la conformación de los consejos nacional, municipal y departamental de la producción ecológica a través de las oficinas Regionales AOPEB.
4. Coadyuvar al fortalecimiento, articulación, complementación y valorización de las relaciones de genero dentro la agricultura ecológica y sostenible para la soberanía alimentaría y el rescate del uso de los recursos y productos locales.
